First sketch and cut out a face shape suited to your mask design from thick card. Draw on the position of features such as the eyes and mouth to help you in stage 2.

Use scrunched up tissue paper or newsprint, pieces of folded card, plastic drinking cups, polystyrene balls, or any other lightweight objects to build up the 3D shape for your mask. Use strips of masking tape to hold everything securely in place.

Cut strips of Mod Roc, enough for 2 or 3 layers. Dunk each strip of Mod Roc into a bowl of cool, clean water and gently run your fingers down each strip to remove excess water.

Lay each strip of Mod Roc onto your mask form and use your fingertips to gently smooth each piece, ensuring that the plaster is smoothed over the surface before adding the next strip. Once you have built up enough layers to make your mask strong, allow to dry completely.

Paint your mask using X2 Free flow Acryl acrylic paint, stippling with the brush to cover any textured areas of the surface completely. Allow to dry thoroughly.
