Prepare your workspace, you will need a range of colouring pens and craft
products for decorating your crackers. You could even use paints or other mediums.

You will need to carefully cut the cardboard tubes in half using a craft knife. Mark the centre using a marker to get an even cut. You could also use toilet paper rolls.

Next, take your A4 piece of paper and mark out 6 inches across. Cut to size, this will be your cracker dimension.

With a marker, place one of the tubes on the centre edge of the paper, and mark where the top and bottom edges sit. Then draw out half diamond shapes on either side of these. This will be the area where the ribbon sits.

Next, draw out diamond shapes across this line on both the top and bottom of the cracker. TIP: Avoid placing these too close together as they may rip when putting the cracker together. Fold the paper in half up to the centre of the diamonds, and carefully cut these out on both sides.

Once cut out, you are ready for decorating! We chose a mixture of repeat patterns, but let your imagination run wild.

When your design is finished and dry, place your tube in the middle at the edge, and roll the paper around it. Tape in place to secure your cracker.

Carefully tie a ribbon around the centre of the cut out sections on either side. You can also add pom poms and other 3D decorations at this stage using PVA glue. Leave to dry and your crackers are ready!
