Celebrate in style by creating your own colourful carnival mask and headdress!

First, you need to make a headband. Measure around your head and cut a strip of card a few cm longer and approx. 3-5cm wide. Use either glue or tape to stick the ends together to form a headband. You can use one colour or several colours of card to make the band.

Cut two more strips of card to cross over the top of the head and stick onto the inside of the headband. Cut out a shaped border for the bottom edge of the band using different coloured card. Make sure everything is securely stuck as it’s going to have lots of things attached to it later!

Now you can decorate your headdress! You could cut out your initials and glue them on as illustrated in the photo. Use the feathers in the pack, or make shapes out of card, and stick them on. Add glitter or sequins to give it some shimmer!

Now it’s time to create your mask. Simply cut out a mask shape from a piece of card. You can use coloured card to match your headdress or choose any bright contrasting colour. Make sure the eye holes are in the right place.

Decorate your mask with card shapes you’ve cut out, or feathers, sequins, jewel stickers or pompoms. It’s a celebration mask so go crazy with your decoration!

Attach the mask to the headdress using pipe cleaners. Simply punch holes in the mask and the headband making sure they are lined up and not too close to the edges. Hook a pipe cleaner through the mask and the headband and you’re ready to go!
