Explore the underwater world with crayon resist.
Draw a fish outline onto cartridge paper using crayons. Decorate the fish with patterns and shapes, using crayons to create the ‘resist’.
Pick up paint from a tempera block using a wet brush.
Wash the watery paint over your drawing. You can paint on as many colours as you like. The paint won’t stick to the paper where the crayon ‘resist’ has been applied.
Leave to dry overnight. If your paper has curled up, press between heavy books to flatten.
Use your finished drawings to create an aquatic mural!
Tip!
Instead of doing individual dolls you could create a big flower garland to hang from the ceiling that all the class could contribute to.
